I think we all know what to expect from games at The Fieldings now. Blood
and thunder affairs, full of action and debatable decisions and, of course, goals!
We certainly got all this yesterday against a strong Kinsley Boys team. If anything,
the game at Newark gave us a good dress-rehearsal as to what to expect this
time. The one thing I want to point out, before I talk about the game, is that the
win was for a very special person that is no longer with us. A few will know who I mean.
The game was as expected full of heavy tackles and I thought it should have
been controlled differently but, as so often seen this season, this was not the case and
some things that went on yesterday were a disgrace.
The lads responded brilliantly to our instructions and they can all be pleased with
their contributions. There were very difficult decisions to make before the game and
the attitude that our players showed was spot on. It is lovely to work with these lads.
Again, Carl showed what a good target man he has become and he adding things to
his game each and every game, he tells me that he is really enjoying himself and I
think that shows. Danny O'Donnell - what a signing he has proved to be, languishing
in the reserves at another club, he has proved a persistant threat to every team he
has come up against. It is however, difficult to pick players out, they all played really
well, throughout the side and the effort must be maintained as we move further up
the table and progress in cup competitions.
This week I will try and get to the Radcliffe v Hucknall match on Tuesday and the
Stanton match on Thursday. In between we are looking to organise another friendly
in an effort to keep everyone match fit.
